One of the first questions we get from clients: should I screen print or embroider my logo? It’s not a matter of one being “better” — it’s about matching the method to your garment, your logo and your budget.
Screen Printing Basics
Screen printing pushes ink through a mesh stencil onto the fabric. It’s the workhorse of bulk apparel.
Best for:
- Large quantities (economies of scale kick in quickly)
- Flat surfaces and t-shirts
- Bold, flat-color logos
- Vibrant, opaque color
Pros: lowest per-unit cost at volume, excellent color, durable when properly cured. Cons: limited on textured fabrics; each color is a separate screen (cost climbs with color count).
Embroidery Basics
Embroidery sews thread directly into the fabric. It reads as premium and professional.
Best for:
- Polos, jackets, caps and bags
- Small to medium logos
- Text, script and fine detail
- Repeated washing and heavy use
Pros: premium look, strong durability, works on textured surfaces. Cons: higher setup and per-unit cost; not suited to gradients or large photoreal color.

Which Should You Choose?
Ask three questions:
- What’s the garment? Thick or textured (caps, polos, jackets) usually points to embroidery. Flat knit tees are wide open for printing.
- How complex is your logo? Simple and bold favors print; fine text or a small mark favors stitching.
- What’s your quantity and budget? Big orders on tees make printing the clear winner on cost.
A common hybrid: embroider the chest on polos for a professional look, and screen print the back or sleeves where large surface area needs lower cost.
Still Unsure?
